I have read each reply and understood what you all are saying. It is as I understood the expected behavior; my question was not a statement of misunderstanding of how this *should* work, rather a statement that it does *not* work as it should. Photos.app does not remember that I don't want it to open for my cards (I don't connect cameras). Image capture does not remember that I *do* want it to open for my cards. And so it goes. I can live with it, but as Alan Browne (I think it was) pointed out, utility apps such as Photos should not be an inseparable part of the Mac OS. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm
