Need Advice On How to Sell Some Apple Stock

Hi. I own sixteen shares of Apple stock.  It's the only stock I own. 
I've been unemployed for months and my bank account is approaching zero 
so I've decided to sell the stock. I have no idea how to sell it, 
though. I've done some searching on the web but it's hard to sift 
through all the info. I'm therefore wondering if someone here can help 
me.

I have two options: The first is to sell it to someone I know. I have a 
relative who has shown interest in the stock and she may even split the 
profits with me if she sells it later on. The second option is to sell 
the stock to someone I don't know.

I really have no idea how to do either. From what I've read, a broker 
can take a chunk of the sale as commission if you sell it to someone 
you don't know. I'm wondering, though, if it's possible to use e-trade 
or similar web sites to bypass the broker. To sell the stock to someone 
I know seems like it should be a simple matter of transferring the name 
of the owner of the stock. But again I don't know specifically the 
process of doing that.

So, if someone could give me some guidance that would be really helpful.
