Taht seems like something you would think of; it's not something any
competent person would ever think of doing.

No one said anything about corrupting backups. You are being

Time Machine knows how may files have a single link, so knows how much
space deleting a backup snapshot will free. Duh.

Your complete lack of understanding on how modern computer systems work
and modern hardware specifications is a constant source of amusement.
Deleting files from drives is very fast because the OS has to do very
little; the drive does nearly all the work.
