There are currently only five underlying engines:
   - Webkit by Apple (based on KHTML)
   - Blink by Google (based on Webkit)
   - Gecko by Mozilla
   - Goanna (based on Gecko)
   - NetSurf

Although those last two are minor niche options, and I'm not sure if
they are even still being developed.

All of the numerous different web browser apps use one of those. It's
the browser app (rather than the engine) where you may get problems ...
hence why some people use the "unGoogled Chromium", which will still
have Blink as the underlying engine.
