I believe the maximum memory that a T60 can take is around 4GB. I
presume you are running windows since you've mentioned above that you a
"Ctrl + Alt + Del", so are you running a 32-bit version of windows or
64?

I'm asking that since Chrome is a memory hog and as far as I know
they're not serving any 32 bit versions anymore. So if you are running a
64 bit machine then that will just tax your machine more.

Have you considered running either Linux or BSD? Maybe running those will help
you prolong the life of that T60 for a few more years.
