Yeah, I can't login with anonymous either. Here's what happened for me: $ ftp ftp.apple.asimov.net Connected to public.asimov.net. 220 ProFTPD 1.3.5e Server (Asimov Apple ][ Archive) [198.202.148.13] Name (ftp.apple.asimov.net:mac): anonymous 331 Anonymous login ok, send your complete email address as your password Password: foo@bar.com 530 Login incorrect. ftp: Login failed ftp> login ?Invalid command. ftp> user (username) anonymous 331 Anonymous login ok, send your complete email address as your password Password: foo@bar.com 530 Login incorrect. Login failed. ftp> quit 221 Goodbye.

I can't login, either. I hope beyond all that we haven't lost access to this fabulous resource. It doesn't seem possible that it might be gone after 25+ years. Hopefully this is just a glitch and will be fixed post-haste.

Perhaps it's down for maintenance, or for migrating to larger storage because of all of the recent uploads. We should be patient.

While the subject is still fresh, how many people here remember the early days of the Asimov FTP site? It used to be quite notorious according to some people. The Asimov archive came online around 1995, more than 25 years ago. By summer 1996, some Apple II users started calling it a pirate site: https://macgui.com/usenet/?group=1&id=120267#msg Quite a few discussions about this, also with Dr. Tom Turley and quantum_cat (who I thought someone once said was an alias of Richard "marinetti" Bennett).
