That's another point, it would be nice if I could get
it to work. I see the window open and immediately it
closes. I don't get to do anything with it.

I'll try going to the Command window first and type
it in. That just occurred to me that it must be an
command line program.

Ok, now that I've gotten it to work, it worked.

Only I converted 'rwizard.bmp' so I don't really know
how I like it until I have a BMP that I want to use
over on the //e or IIgs. I have some that I would
like to see on the IIgs, but I have so much going on
right now. Everything must have a purpose Neo, so
it may be a while before I do anything with B2D.exe
seriously.

Otherwise, I do like it. I'll like it more when it
works in the GUI. 8>)

That is impressive! Looks better than I thought DHGR could look. Even
HGR looks better than I would have guessed possible.

Thanks for the feedback and the compliment Jerry. Sheldon Simms AppleWin
NTSC makes a cool presentation and his conversion palettes also help a great
deal to make this look good:)

Interesting how Apple Computer witheld dithering technology and
capitalization of composite video.

I have updated both the Win32 (gcc) and MS-DOS distribution with the latest
Bmp2DHR source and binaries:

Download the latest versions at the following links:

Win32 and MinGW (gcc) build environment:

http://www.appleoldies.ca/cc65/programs/dhgr/bmp2dhr.zip

MS-DOS Version

http://www.appleoldies.ca/cc65/programs/dhgr/bmp2dhrMSDOS.zip

The documentation is out of synch with the latest changes especially the
pictures of example HGR output which has improved greatly. In most cases
this affects nothing, but the changes fix coding errors and improve output.

Major improvements are as follows:

1. VBMP output now includes HGR and DHGR Color and Monochrome output.

2. HGR output was mapping black pixels to what should have been violet. This
resulted in dark areas and dirty dithering on some images so now works
properly.

For HGR output there are 2 palettes that produce good results for viewing in
AppleWin NTSC. These correspond to two command options:

hgr - uses Sheldon Simms tohgr DHGR palette colors for conversion. tends to
be too green on some images.
tgr - uses Sheldon Simms tohgr HGR palette colors for conversion. very nice
for blues on some images but greens tend to go red on others.

3. Conversion for RGB displays and the Apple IIgs is inferior due to display
and hardware limitations. This is not something that can be fixed. It is a
historical fact. However, by using RGB palettes for conversion, or palettes
like the pseudo-palette placeholder which is a mean average of the DHGR RGB
values from Super Convert combined with Sheldon Simms tohgr DHGR RGB values,
better conversions are available for the IIgs and RGB displays for some
images.

4. The final release of version 1 will be 1.1 and I will continue to comb
through the source code and documentation to make sure everything is working
as expected and is doucmented properly in the end.

Bmp2DHR has been updated with my latest changes.

Win32 version complete with source:
http://www.appleoldies.ca/cc65/programs/dhgr/bmp2dhr.zip

MS-DOS: http://www.appleoldies.ca/cc65/programs/dhgr/bmp2dhrMSDOS.zip

Bmp2DHR converts Bitmapped Graphics Files to Apple II Double Hi-Res, Hi-Res,
