A post from 2008 mentions this as the best way to read from the serial
port.  

1. Is this the newest code?
2. Do any Complete Pascal samples exist that use this?

I am looking to read from the serial (modem) port as fast as possible
and reliably as possible. No writing necessary, just
unidirectional-in.
