This supposed restriction may be wrong. I found a tap/tun device for Mac 
OS X at http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/

Installing this, setting up /dev/tapX and selecting tapX as network 
device (instead of en0) should allow network traffic between the Mac 
host and the Apollo emulation (similar as on Linux).
