The front-end, the bit you see and use, is v0.05, but the module itself is v0.02. I never figured out how to get one MakeFile to build multiple things so the front-end and the module are actually held as separate projects. If anybody would like to help, I'd love to: * delete o.* * build MoreKeys (the module) * build !RunImage (the front-end) I'm using !Zap's Shift-Ctrl-C mode to start the build, I think this uses AMU (as Make is terribly quirky). > Also, if I kill MoreKeys with an RMKill, I get a SWI not known error - > because something during module finalisation (or after) is calling SWI > MoreKeys_ReadData but the module is no longer present. That's right, the API is faulting on trying to call the module. There is something of a dichotomy in how a module can notify a dependecy (in this case, a pollword) of it disappearing. I think, for now, I will set a magic value of -1 in the workspace before releasing it. As long as that data stays for the next WimpPoll, it should work. I'll tighten up the error trapping anyway, just in case. ;-) Best wishes, Rick.

It's exactly the right solution to keep the module and the front end application as different source components. What you really need is to create a 'components' file (assuming you're building this with the RISC OS toolchain rather than, say, GCC). This is exactly what I do for MoreDesk - in fact, it's components file has 19 different subcomponents and builds three versions of the lot - a 'debug' build, a 'demo' build and a 'release' build. I can kick a build off just by clicking "Build" in !Builder. Have a look at the "PlingSystem" build for RISC OS as a relatively simple example. It all boils down to creating an Env file (see castle.RiscOS.Env), a Components file (see castle.RiscOS.BuildSys.Components) plus putting your custom components into the ModuleDB (see castle.RiscOS.BuildSys.ModuleDB). One suggestion: When !Morekeys displays the block of characters to choose from, if it defaulted to highlighting the character that was used last time, this would tend to reduce the number of cursor presses that are required. Hi,
MoreKeys v0.06 is now available:
http://www.heyrick.co.uk/software/morekeys/morekeys_0-06.zip
This one offers:
* Stricter checking for cases where the module may be RMKilled
without the front-end being terminated first.
Now handled more gracefully.
* Front-end now removes the MoreKeys module on exit.
* Auto-highlights the last character selected, useful for when you
need the same character a lot, like 'é' in French...
Additionally, at the request of John Williams, the help file has been
reformatted to 80 character width (actually, 78 to allow for scroll bar)
because it would seem that the average RISC OS text editor can't do word
wrap worth a damn [*]. Hmm...
Best wishes,
Rick.
* - !Edit's Word wrap and Window wrap appear to be broken, it will wrap
(absolutely) to the window width, but won't wordwrap to it).
Even good old !Zap requires three options to be set up in order to
get it to work logically: Type of wrap -> Word wrap, then Window
Wrap, then Soft wrap. Or ^F5, Sh^R, then Sh^W.
What's wrong with a simple "wrap to window width" option? That's
something even flamin' *Notepad* can do, and you don't get much
lower in the dung heap of worthless editors than Notepad.exe!

A good idea, but an Ohms symbol is not part of the standard character set. Sorry. :-( [*] Maybe this will be possible in, say, an eternity (or alternate reality) where RISC OS is Unicode aware and it's a doddle to do crazy stuff like name your files in Runic, write letters in Arabic, and create diagrams in !Draw with all sorts of scary maths symbols, all without chaos or issue. Best wishes, Rick. * - PS: There IS a way if you have a standard font with an Ohms symbol, simply add that definition to your mapping file (!MoreKeys.mappings...) but note it'll only work in software with that font selected, and it'll look wrong on-screen. I don't have the emulator running, so just assume Symbol (or somesuch) has it in the same character position as î, just add 'î' to the m key definitions and remember that 'î' gives you omega. Not terribly convenient, I know, but it's the best you're gonna get out of RISC OS for now.

Edit's Wordwrap controls what happens when you type *new* text - it
doesn't act retrospectively. Try typing a space into an existing
paragraph to see what happens....
(I'm not claiming that this is especially desirable behaviour -
StrongED's approach is much easier to handle - but the Edit set-up does
work. It just doesn't do what you're expecting.)

Hi,
Small update - Carlos Michael Santillán has created a Latin1 German
mapping for MoreKeys [ thank you! (^_^) ].
For now, you can download this from:
http://www.heyrick.co.uk/software/morekeys/morekeys_deutsch.zip
The mapping will be included within the main distribution of the next
release of MoreKeys.
Best wishes,
Rick.
PS: I don't know if it is my setup or "the way forward", however I
noted that the default mapping on the Beagle (RO5) appeared to be
(IIRC) ISO8859/9? I got MoreKeys working by a cut'n'paste of the
Latin1 def; however could somebody please confirm/deny that RO5
prefers Latin9? If so, I will make a def specifically for it as
there are some (minor) differences.
