Just tried again with Oregano 1 and failed, same as before. But got in
with Fresco - although it looked like it was going to crash any moment.

Wierd! Fresco works with no problem although its a real pain to navigate.
I've not actually tried doing anything serious such as making a payment but
I don't see why it wouldn't work given the other things that seem to.

Why is Fresco considered an OK browser when the others aren't?

Somehow don't think I'm going to be using it much though!

Strange, I still can't get anything other than the service not available
message with Fresco after completing the authentication.

Despite it's incorrect rendering of pages and other shortcomings, I have
always found Fresco very reliable for banking and buying online etc..

What versions are people using that can get in?
Mine is 2.13 (1 Dec 1999 (1828)) R.

2.13 (3-Dec-99 (0921)) R here. I hadn't even thought about trying
Fresco until it was mentioned in this thread. How bizarre! I'll leave
it to others to expound on the irony that the only way users of our OS
can get in to their online banking is to use an ancient flaky browser
(Fresco) rather than one that's being actively developed (NetSurf).

Mmnn!
I don't know what OS version Howard is using, but here SARPC Select RO
6.20 and Fresco (Same version) can login to the LloydsTSB net banking, but
the display is a total mess, and thereafter attempting to do anything,
results in Fresco dying with a Type 5 error.

NetSurf maybe tediously slow, but it does (mostly) do the business without
continually falling over, and (mostly) displays the site in a usable
manner.

The Barclays site has two drop down menus which require you to enter two
letters from your password. These don't exist with Netsurf - but do with
both Fresco and Oregano 1. Both of which can make use of very early
versions of JavaScript? Or whatever.

We've sort of been here before with this Barclays login thing on Netsurf.
I can do it all but end up with the 'banking not available ' message.

What I can't seem to get is the option to log in with my passcode and
memorable word, which I assume is the option you are talking about. The
instructions about what to do if you don't have your PINsentry talk about
using the passcode etc but the option isn't visible anywhere! It just
offers the PINsentry option.

How are you getting to the passcode & memorable word option?

Cheers

Just tried it today with Netsurf and got to the second log in page where
you have to enter your pass code number and password. The box exists for
the number and that can be entered - but not the two password letters.
It was like this before, so nothing fundamental has changed.
On the odd occasion I wanted to visit the site using my Acorn Oregano 1
worked. I never thought to try Fresco.

Yes. Oregano 1 gets as far as Netsurf - no sign of any login choice other
than the PINsentry.

Fresco gets in OK and works using the PINsentry as there is still no other
option visible but it is not a pretty site (sic). I have to use Fresco's
back button to get back to a screen where I can logout as the normal
navigation buttons are missing on most pages.

I wonder if somehow the Barclay's site is recognising me from my initial
login details and only offering a PINsentry option as it knows that I have
one?

Cheers

I'd rather scoop out both eyeballs with a spoon.

If you really don't have anything other than RISC OS, I suggest phone
banking.

It's just the challenge, Druck! The puzzle is why it can be done with
Fresco but not Oregano.

Some people play suduko, I'd rather count grains of rice in a 1kg bag.

Perhaps it's just the rudimentary JS.

That's my guess too. Certainly for the drop down menus that don't appear
with Netsurf.

But I have JS switched off in Fresco!

That would be rather silly when you have a browser which actually works
with Barclays!

Since you've quoted my post, I do have alternatives.

But my RPC still gets far more use than them.
