If you mentioned were you are, you may find some local takers and be able to
save you some hassle!

Ok this is weird- I'm viewing the newsgroups online via

https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/comp.sys.acorn.misc/31H8IQmkGl8

When I clicked the link yesterday I got the 404 error message- hence my 'trying to be helpful' post.

When I clicked the link again following peoples message saying it worked for them I again got the 404 error message.

However having now signed into Google the link now works, and still works after I've signed out.

Any ideas why this might happen? (for info I'm using Chrome on a win pc)

Thanks
Colin

I get:

Pour utiliser les Forums Google Groupes, activez JavaScript dans les
paramètres de notre navigateur, puis actualisez cette page.

But then I'm in France and using NetSurf under RISC OS!

I've never used anything but NetSurf under RISC OS for any of the many
Google Group newsgroups and forums I use. The most inconvenience I
ever have is having to hit RETURN when a Javascript SUBMIT button won't
work - that seems to work every time!

I can confirm that - I get a similar message:-

Para poder utilizar los foros de debate de Grupos de Google, debes
habilitar JavaScript en la configuración del navegador y, a
continuación, actualizar la página.

Also using NetSurf under RISC OS in England with Google language set
to Spanish, practising for my Summer holiday.

This is an Android 2.3 mobile phone. The search/index works, but the
actual messages just appear as a blank page.

The irony of Google's OS not correctly displaying a Google service
hasn't been missed on me. ;-)

BTW, can you not specify a preferred language for web pages in
preferences? Google usually speaks to me in English...though
amusingly (perhaps because I watch a lot of J-pop) YouTube seems to
think my location is slightly west of Shibuya (Tôkyô). Sadly, not...

Best wishes,

Rick.

Yes - under configuration you can choose:-
 the interface language.
You can also prioritise the returned pages by language.

I have Facebook, Gmail, Youtube, and Google interface languages set to
Spanish. It was hard work at first but now I hardly notice.

Two years ago I was stuck in Barcelona. I tried to book a flight back
to the UK using a computer in an internet café. The interface was in
Spanish and I did not know how to change it to English. It was very
worrying keying in my personal and credit card detail almost blind.
The site came up with warning messages that I did not fully
understand. In the end I gave up and went to the travel agent in El
Corte Inglés. Where I bought an expensive flight and paid commission.

Not Catalan?

I sometimes find it easier to read than Spanish, not
speaking either. Catalan is a lot closer to French; in
particular it lacks the strong Arabic influence.

+1 (but in very rural Andalucia near to portugal)

Spanish keyboard with lettering worn off makes it even
harder than this french keyboard I'm almost used to

I rang my daughter in UK and told her which flight to book
and left it to her
