I can move South from the flight of stairs through the magic wall then S, E and N through more magic walls where I find a key. Beyond this and mapping the whole maze conventionally I am at a bit of an impasse. I have got as far as obtaining the wand from the bar-maid and giving it to the wizard together with the potion. However the old man and the vicar remain obstinately unresponsive.

I have, true to form managed to escape from the maze after sending my question in. The maze is as tricky as any ever compiled by the Phoenix crowd; the walls are magic and it takes a lot of mapping and dying (annoyingly the policeman recognises you through your disguise and kills you in the maze). In the Police Station he doesn't.
