I do not use Maple on linux. But it looks like this is a typical way apps
on linux work. When you installed maple, it must have created this file or
folder there. Normally they have a "." so one does not delete them by
mistake. just do "ls -la" in your home folder and you'll see many such
files and folders.

used to keep configuration information in them.
