I've been working in IT for over 20 years, mostly in enduser-facing areas. Nothing is set in stone yet. Google at least acknowledged the responses from the community, so there's still some hope. Maybe they'll just make it a setting in Chrome://flags for example. I'd be perfectly OK with that.
