The firewall list all apps that use a data or wifi connection and allows you to block them.  I have every app blocked, including google spy crap.  When I need to install an app, I release google for the installation period only.  So with NetGuard, apps that unnecessarily demand and require wifi or data connection are no problem because I simply disallow them from getting out of the phone.

That means they eat up cpu cycle time and kill your battery 
faster.
