This question is not about the best software development model, but about the company or open source project that has proven using quantifiable results their approach to building software is the best.

I am interested in knowing what combination of:

1. Best coding practices tools they're using and how they're using them

2. Software development model (e.g. Kanban) general philosophy, i.e.

3. What understanding they have upon things, that other companies don't

4. How do these companies/open source projects get the software shipped so quickly with as little problems as possible

5. Details on "after delivery/sales" support they're offering and it's proven to really pay results in terms of happy customers and diminished time spent on support

I guess what I'm asking is, is there a perfect company or open source project that I can learn from to apply that to my own shop?

Also, if you think this information is summarized very well in a book or a combination of books you'd recommend, please write down any title you think it's worth reading.

Many thanks,
Vladimir Ghetau
