I might even agree with you, but consider that there are many old computers still alive and that work well with OS/2, a cpu PIII 500 is definitely effort for you, but from 800 up and only 256 of ram, VLC performs quite well (direct experience), so apart from ram and gpu, maybe works also older, so this switch would mean cutting out a slice of users.
