| Subject | OpenSSL considering drop of OS/2 related code |
| From | xhajt03 <xhajt03@gmail.com> |
Hi *, I came across a forwarded message from an OpenSSL mailing list where they suggest to drop OS/2 support code from their repository (see e.g. http://www.mail-archive.com/openssl-users@openssl.org/msg74751.html). I wanted to contact the person who has been providing OpenSSL builds for OS/2 (EMX and OS2KNIX) recently (http://bauxite.sakura.ne.jp/software/os2/#openssl) to check if he couldn't become an official support person for OpenSSL (I expect that having such a person is the most likely requirement of OpenSSL for not dropping this code). Unfortunately, just finding a working contact to this person doesn't seem to be very easy for someone not understanding a single Japanese character (e.g. the readme document of the OpenSSL port doesn't include any contact information, the e-mail address found on http://bauxite.sakure.ne.jp does not seem to exist, etc.; there may be a detailed Japanese description on how to contact him on one of his pages, but that wouldn't really help me). I've tried another address deduced from one of the linked pages (an address starting with 'lpproj'), but I have no clue if that one might be valid / used or not because my path to that address was anything but straightforward. Since I consider the topic to be important (the decision is most likely to be done soon), I wanted to ask also here if: 1) Someone has a working contact to this person and is willing to share it with me (probably privately to avoid it being visible to all spammers around the world). 2) Someone can confirm that the lpproj address is the right one. 3) The person follows this group directly. ;-) 4) There is someone else willing and able to be in charge for the OS/2 support in OpenSSL in the future (or at least able to convince the OpenSSL people to change their mind ;-) ). Thanks Tomas
