Before you try anything else, try this.  From the command line type:

$ ls -l /dev/video*

Are there three entries, /dev/video0, /dev/video24 and /dev/video32?  Or 
something similar?  If so, then you're done.  No modprobe stuff needed.

Chances are good that this will be the case, since the modern kernels 
generally can find and load drivers for most hardware just fine.

I have two machines with cx23xxx based tv capture cards and current 
kernels for Ubuntu and Fedora detect and load drivers for them just fine.
