Wow, it worked too. To test to see if it is using pdftotext command, I 
renamed my /usr/bin/pdftotext and retested. Midnight Commander (mc) said 
"Error -- /usr/lib/mc/ext.d/doc.sh: 41: /usr/lib/mc/ext.d/doc.sh: 
pdftotext: not found". So yes, it is using it. :)
