That was their first attempt. followed by the PrestoiMatic that also had a
clutch. The PowerFlite was a conventional 2 speed auto, sans clutch.

Nobody ever fell out but my '62 Lincoln had suicide doors also. I forget
when they faded out. Unlike the Chrysler the Lincoln had a hood that
opened forward and a 430 ci V-8 that filled the engine compartment. By
comparison the old straight-8 was a dream to work on.

My mother learned to drive around 1920 and taught her father. After my
father died she went looking for a new car in the 1970s. I had to convince
her she could drive an automatic. I had a '73 Mustang that I used for he
student training. Not only did she discover automatics, but power steering
and power brakes and it was off to the races. Probably more literally than
I wanted to know about; she always was a fast driver and settled on a Gold
Duster.

My 2011 Toyota Yaris had manual windows. I got stopped and the cop walked
up on the passenger side so I reached over to roll the window down. "I
didn't know they still made cars with manual windows", he said. Young
guy.

It was a courtesy ticket and as he started to walk away he asked as sort
of an afterthought "Are there any weapons in the vehicle I should know
about?" "No sir!" I mean it has Montana plates. I was watching an episode
of 'Detective Harry Hole' last night that is set in Oslo. Gangs are
starting to shoot it out with each other and one of the cops says "There
are getting to be too many guns in Oslo. This isn't Montana." I guess our
fame has spread.
