It's interesting when you look at the figures from the Islamic Golden Age  
like al-Khwarizmi[ you find they were Persians. In philosophy Avicenna was 
Persian. Averroes came from Cordoba, possibly Arab or possibly Moor. 

Many of them wrote in Arabic but that would be like a medieval German 
scholar writing in Latin or today with most of the world writing in 
English.
