Here's a quick real-world example.  You've just downloaded an ISO
image of a file system intended to be burned to a DVD.  You'd like
to look around inside before burning the 4GB DVD:

        mount -o loop,ro somefile.iso /mnt/tmp

Now that whole file system is available just as though you had
burned the DVD and then mounted _that_ on /mnt/tmp.
