   That's why I gave the OP the benefit of the doubt.
   Sounds like almost ALL Winders people when they try
   to do something with Linux/Unix.

   Anyway, the OP got lots of suggestions (some complex
   and/or hazardous) and as best I can tell now seems
   to claim that Knoppix+ actually DID install - albeit
   in an odd way.

   There's a classic cartoon showing a professor pointing
   at a blackboard packed with dense hyper-math equations
   and saying "So, OBVIOUSLY ...". We who have years of
   experience with Linux or whatever tend to fall into
   that point-of-view. WE 'get it' - so that MUST mean
   everybody else "Just Knows" as well .....

   They don't. Not at all. 99.999% are just "users",
   run other peoples apps and have NO CLUE how any
   of it works under the hood. Ask most people how
   an automobile works and they'll say "Well, you
   turn the key and ..." and have ZERO info on how
   an Otto engine is constructed or an ignition
   system or much of ANYTHING else about the thing.

   As best I remember, Knoppix was THE FIRST "live" distro
   way on back. That made it very popular and people DID
   build stuff on top of it. Now a large number of distros
   have a 'live' version and Knoppix has fallen way down
   in the ratings (though it's still good). I'm never
   without an MX-live thumb drive, lots of useful stuff
   in there.
