Why do you assume a Vast Evil Plan ??? These groups aren't just for people with decades of Unix/Linux under their belts - unless you want to create a "comp.os.linux.misc.oldguysonly" group :-) I think the OP is mostly a Winders guy who had an old bootable enhanced Knoppix he liked and now wants to make a permanent install. Alas he barely knows what he's doing with Linux. A few of us will try to steer him in the right direction - which, for him, is gonna be VirtualBox.
