Earthlink. Yep, they still exist and are busy, just like AOL and even CompuServe are still with us. However their webmail page went down 24 hours ago and STILL not up. It was handy. Had to configure Thunderbird to go direct to their POP3 so I could pay a few pending bills and such. However their OTHER stuff, including usenet, is alive. Hmmm ... M$ 365 went down hard a couple of days ago. I wonder if Vlad/Xi are probing *everyone* and testing kill-switch moves ? Had to dump CompuServe a LONG time ago - and it's the reason I don't go for automatic billing - when they changed their whole password scheme and there were NO phone numbers for dealing with issues. Had to go to the bank and have them AXE payments, and then got threats. However, this far on, MAYbe it wouldn't hurt to get an account, esp for the e-mail. CompuServe Forums were kind of the first usenet-like things most could get at - a LOT of stuff. Used to use a dumb terminal with a 1200/2400 modem plugged in. Dunno if they ever offered direct usenet access. DO miss the Byte Mag forums !!! -- 033-33
