Seems like when you try and get ubuntu in any other version than
native, you have problems.  I've always had probs with ubuntu.  The
plain vanilla UNR version is the only version I've ever had work.

I did it from a flash/thumb drive.  Never tried to do full install.  Doesn't
your model eee have flash HDD?  Mine has a regular disc HDD.
Possibly, a problem point.

You'll get no argument from me on that one.  I'm no ubuntu fan.  In
fact I really dislike it and would never use it full time.  I have it
on my eee cuz, like I said, in this one particular case/application,
it worked.  Never on any other machine.  <shrug>
