Debatable.

People subscribed to the satellite dish, or cable, which meant have a 
bunch of channels available. No matter really how they handled serials.

In fact, sci fi at least was handled badly. StarTrek was aired at 
impossible hours, so I had the video recorded programmed to record the 
channel automatically at a certain hour. One week they suddenly changed 
the schedule and I did not know. Another week they stopped the serial in 
mid season and restarted. And another, they changed to another channel, 
then removed the previous channel.

Eventually I got mad and started to download them instead via some mule 
thing. So they lost money.
