By this, I mean the shell root will get when the system is first setup
and/or the one that new users will get if a new user is created. You can
change it:

cat /etc/default/useradd 
# useradd defaults file
GROUP=1000
HOME=/home
INACTIVE=-1
EXPIRE=
SHELL=/bin/ksh
SKEL=/etc/skel
CREATE_MAIL_SPOOL=yes

Nov 21, 2003 was the date I switched over from Microsoft. It's still
listed in /ect/issue to this day. I was briefly in front of a Sun
workstation in the mid '90s but I don't recall much about it other than
it had laser mice (on a metal pad), its screen had higher resolution
than I'd ever seen, it was in a "pizza box", and you could login from
any station in the lab, so it probably had NIS going with NFS. No one I
knew of then knew what Linux was, as it was just getting going, and no
mere mortal could afford a Unix workstation at home.
