I'm less interested in the current versions than
in why Deb/MX have done SO many updates in a VERY
   short time.

Did find one possible ex in DistroWatch - seems there
is a new 'security/privacy' fork of MX - 'iDeal OS',
only just now to be had. MAYBE MX is trying to help,
or keep up with, this fork disto ???

MX is still one of The Best distros - and popularity
agrees strongly. Not TOO big, not TOO small, Just Right.
Also a lot of useful little tools.

"iDeal OS" ... started to download but it's 4+ gb.
I have crappy bandwidth. Note that 5g routers are
only good if you kinda live RIGHT NEXT to the
   antenna site.

Probably best to wait a few months anyway, for a
   few point versions.
