There were vulnerabilities out there, exploited, perverting the boot process. Specially on corporate environments. They also need methods blocking employees from booting anything else but the provided by their IT department software. I will not say that UEFI and secure boot solve the issue. I do not know. But it is the right direction. And in fact UEFI makes multibooting easier. And no, M$ can not block other oses. Not in Europe, at least.
