My point was the chosen spelling makes it look like someone liked 
Pascal's function name style, but preferred "print" to "write" for some 
reason.

Wrote my fair share of Pascal back in the day (Apple II UCSD, Turbo 
Pascal 4 on a PC clone, some University's Pascal compiler (I've long 
since forgotten the name) for the CDC Cyber 7600 during college).  I 
know what the 'ln' suffix on Pascal's write (and read) does.

Now, what would be surprising would be if a Pascal deciple decided on 
"println" (why the ! I don't know) but then made it not append a new 
line to the output.
