In Windows, run Task Manager (ctrl-shift-esc) and look for any unusual
processes. Don't kill unrecognized things, google them first. Keep the
window open sorted by CPU use and see if something pops to the top of
the list right before the beep. Run msconfig and see if weird stuff is
launched.
