I can't answer any of those questions as I don't have any experience from
a zx3 myself. Most digital cameras today have support for recording video
in widescreen HD. With a digital camera you in most cases also get optical
zoom. Also most mobile phones have built in cameras with the ability to
record video.

Considering the price and the look of the optics of these kodak video
recorders I would guess that they give an image qualit which is somewhere
between the image quality of a compact digital camera and a mobile phone.

There are many different car mounts for mobile phones. With Android phones
you can use a software called DailyRoads to create videos like this:
