Thanks, everything you suggested worked. It is strange, I have Android 4.1.1 on my MK802 IIIs and the setting program handles Ethernet, setting either DHCP or static IPs. It has no Ethernet port so we use a USB/Ethernet adapter. On Android_x86 5.1 RC1, I did some probing using Android terminal and busybox. Using ifconfig I was able to make IPv6 work and I noticed Rx and Tx statistics. But how for IPv4? On Google play I found an old unsupported program Ethernet. I ran it and by default set it for DHCP. It recognized the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller and turned off the Atheros AR50007EG. Ethernet works good in Android_x86. It allows me to run Microsoft Remote Desktop, and work with Network Shares. Oddly, some Android programs refuse to use anything but WiFi. It may be a misguided perception of security. Ethernet does work with Google Play and so it is easy to add more programs. Cheers. --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: news@netfront.net ---
