I would like to thank you for all of your help, Rainer. I had almost
gotten it working (I was still having problems with the dynamic loader
[ld-linux.so.2] not being found in my local tree) when the boss decided
to just compile under each version as necessary.

I learned much from your posts and remain grateful for your help. I now
have a new problem, but will start a new thread for it... :-)
