Actually I am the one who keeps making that point with Carroll showing he does not get it. I made a prediction of the Linux user base growing. I noted that the data *correlated* with my prediction in 2011 (esp. the latter half)... and it did, there was a clear growth trend: <http://tmp.gallopinginsanity.com/LinuxTrend2011-2ndhalf.png> I never said that this trend would continue... though I expected the growth to continue at *some* rate or to flatten. I did *not* predict that it would have a significant drop. But it did: <http://tmp.gallopinginsanity.com/LinuxTrendLine2012.jpg> So the data *correlates* well with my predictions for the latter half of 2011, but for the first half of 2012 it does not. Nowhere did I say that the increase in 2011 was proved to be based on what my predictions were based on. Carroll and cc, however, keep getting this confused and running back to the idea that I said I proved *causation*, which I never did. Never even suggested or hinted. In other words: the two of them are either ignorant or lying. Not only did they lie about that: they lied about my saying the trend line I produced was a sign I believed the increase would continue as it was into "infinity", as Carroll said. Yes, lines do go off into infinity, but that does not mean the data must. Repeatedly I was proved right with my claims in the absurd debate I had with them (other than the trend in 2012... which neither of them even have really commented on - but when I am wrong I admit to it). See the links in my .sig to see how many places Carroll and cc were just flat our wrong and / or dishonest. They proudly display their ignorance and dishonesty. > In other words, is the rise in "market share" due to improvements in the > code, or simply due to more and more people discovering how useful is > Linux? > > In any case, Snit's snivellings, right or wrong, are annoying. If you think I am wrong then *quote* where I am wrong. Do not just accept Carroll's and cc's dishonest claims about what I have said - they are ignorant *and* dishonest anything they say is should be taken with a very, very tiny grain of salt unless you can see it verified. They will jump in and whine about this... but it is true: their claim that I confused causation with correlation, which you parroted out of ignorance (or maybe malice) is a great example. -- The indisputable facts about that absurd debate: <http://goo.gl/2337P> cc being proved wrong about his stats BS: <http://goo.gl/1aYrP> 7 simple questions cc will *never* answer: <http://goo.gl/cNBzu> cc again pretends to be knowledgeable about things he is clueless about.
