Configurability *is* a drawback for the kind of person he (and people like Snit) are talking about. The problem is they're trying to compare apples and oranges. Something that is highly configurable is like Wordpress, whereas something not as configurable is more like WIx. You simply cannot explain to a Wix user why the ability to tweak WordPress in ways Wix can't even dream of is a good thing. Only when they run across a hard limitation do they even begin to try and understand the issue. At that point they are transforming from the 'lowest common denominator" user to one that realizes that's what they are. I actually agree with Lloyd's premise, both have their place. HOWEVER...where I disagree with him is a technical newsgroup isn't the place to keep harping on that point (like Glasser does). It'd be like going to a newsgroup for hot rodding cars and continually explaining how stock cars are -fill in the blank-, no one cares.
