This author does a good job of telling the story of the Polish S, so it 
is indeed a compelling read.

I conclude however that at this stage, even simple applications in the 
Web era are built on so many overlapping layers of software that 
debugging becomes difficult and requires excruciatingly deep knowledge 
of disparate systems/layers.  But debugging hairy javascript is the 
price you pay for using something like Medium.  Compose your piece in 
emacs, and FTP it up to an Apache server and you've got significantly 
less complexity to hash out.  But hey, the market has spoken and they 
want shiny web apps.  Good luck, folks.
