So you decided to move to Thunderbird (rarely has someone used it as
their first client unless they're a noob and had someone else do the
setup for them) and you have stuck with it ever since then without ever
investigating alternative clients in all that time?

I last used OE as an NNTP client many years ago. WLM is a poor
substitute for an NNTP client so I have never used it for such. I also
prefer to use a separate client for e-mail and another for newsgroups.
Instead I use an NNTP client that via event scripting lets me strip out
the worthless PGP signatures (yeah, like anyone in Usenet is going to
waste their time separately authenticating the claim as to ownership).
I haven't had to bother with inane PGP sigs for a long time. I also
have my client strip out or hide the ego-stroking, off-topic, and spam
signatures, ahem, like yours.

If you want more information as to what WLM can and cannot do then I
suggest you lurk or post over in its newsgroup at:
