Completely by coincidence, I have just discovered, and I mean *literally* just a few minutes ago, this book: http://www.springer.com/mathematics/computational+science+%26+engineering/book/978-3-642-30292-3 http://codingcat.com/knjige/python/A%20Primer%20on%20Scientific%20Programming%20with%20Python.pdf I wish it had existed when I was a beginner! I haven't read the whole thing, but dammit it looks like exactly the sort of book I would have adored as a newbie. (Your mileage may vary.) -- Steven
