You could ask. At very worst, you'll find someone explain to you why it shouldn't be done. Yeah, I went looking for it and came across that, but wasn't sure if that was it. Now I look more closely (ie: look at the actual source code), I see that it probably is the function I was thinking of. Might need a docs patch to make it clear that this iterates over getaddrinfo() and attempts them all in succession. ChrisA
