isinstace(inst, klass) is implemented as
klass.__instancecheck__(inst) ==
type(klass).__instancecheck__(klass, inst)
In other words, __instancecheck__ is a metaclass method.

Find the metaclasses with "for cl in bf.__mro__: print(type(bf))" and
