What exactly do you mean by "json doesn't change anything"? I get this:

 >>> para = '[null,null,null,null,null,"J"]'
 >>> print para
[null,null,null,null,null,"J"]
 >>> import json
 >>> print json.loads(para)
[None, None, None, None, None, u'J']
