Use formatter_class=argparse.ArgumentDefaultsHelpFormatter

[git/mpstack]$ cat print_stacks.py

def main():
     import argparse
     parser = argparse.ArgumentParser(
         formatter_class=argparse.ArgumentDefaultsHelpFormatter)
     parser.add_argument('-p', '--percent', action='store_true', help='Show 
percentages.')
     parser.add_argument('file', help='The sample file.')
...

[git/mpstack]$ python print_stacks.py -h
usage: print_stacks.py [-h] [-p] file

positional arguments:
   file           The sample file.

optional arguments:
   -h, --help     show this help message and exit
   -p, --percent  Show percentages. (default: False)
