Just to let you know, this isn't usually the best way to ask for help.
You're mostly there with the correct way to ask questions; you've
posted your code, said what it ought to do, and said what it's
actually doing; but I recommend a bit of patience. Also a better
subject line would help.

I'll respond to your actual question in a little while, but just
thought I'd "respond fast" to that part.
