Thanks very much. I'll take a look at that.

I've also discovered that my printer is now playing up and the Tray 3 is 
no longer being recognised as existing. It must have broken somehow, so 
I've had to move my A3 paper to Tray 2, just to confuse things. I 
wondered why it was asking me to put A3 paper in the manual feed tray 
this morning!

I also managed to get psnup working (sort-of) earlier, after doing a 
ps2ps, although didn't manage the resizing correctly. So, I'll look at 
what you've done and see if I can reproduce it. I'd like to get my head 
round these PSUtil commands.

Helge, who replied earlier, has also shown me a Perl script which 
appears to filter the original PS file such that the original 
modifications. I don't mind installing Perl if I have to (don't fancy 
trying to convert it to PHP!)

Bah, things are going from bad to worse. It now seems as though my 
printer is not recognising the existence of the tray 3 (250 sheet feeder).

I could swap the A3 paper into tray 2 and put a4 in the manual feed 
tray, see if anything works.

That's not exactly helpful.
