I know very little about postscript but was hoping to learn a little more. Recently I had to reduce the size of a number of .eps files. I found that by converting them from eps to eps level 3 that the files were reduced by sometimes more than 50%! Why is this? Just by reading a little more it seems that level 3 is just the most recent revision of postscript language. Is this just a case that their have been simplifications of how images are described which result in the much smaller files sizes? Or is it something else? If so, what?
