Lout's great: I love not having to worry about LaTeX's warts of what order I include packages and how they don't all quite play nicely with each other, instead Lout offers an elegant uniformity where one tries something and it works without surprises. It's also very relevant here given how it even goes so far as to allow literal PostScript to be included in one's documents. However, it's been maintenance-only for many years: for example, anyone wanting microtypography on OpenType Unicode fonts is going to be disappointed. I had my eye on the Nonpareil effort but, well, now I am just down to using Lout for some minor personal stuff, I haven't used its more advanced features for years, partly because nobody I collaborate with professionally knows it. -- Mark
